We arrived at our Garden Fale at 12.02 am on September 29 - thrilled to be in such a beautiful and welcoming resort. The earthquake that woke us less than seven hours later was frightening in its intensity. When the siren warned of the tsunami we ran for higher ground - not knowing anyone or even the lie of the land as we had only seen the resort in the dark. The staff and managers of Sinalei were absolutely amazing - calm, organised, helpful and knowledgeable as they evacuated us. They weren't thinking of themselves but of their guests. Whilst we never got to experience their legendary hospitality and the beauty of their spot of paradise, we will never forget the way they looked after us so superbly during such an extremely sad and terrifying time. We would love to come back and stay in the future! Please accept our condolences. We are thinking of you all!
